defender of our backyard,

and killer of snakes,

you are missed,

thank you for all the love shown,

after my cancer,

the world seemed right,

 when I felt you jump onto my bed, 

and snuggle in by my feet,

late at night,

after your nightly round,

throughout the house,

making sure all was well.

 

Spring along the Dismal

spring along the Dismal,

a special time of year,

with sights and sounds,

and even smells,

to savor through the entire year,

deer along the river,

both doe and fawn, and buck,

turkeys heard a goggling in early morn,

as raindrops fall on clay banks,

creating a slippery muck,

Spring along the Dismal,

one of my favorite times of year.
