Chaos

 

A Mystery

a mystery from the past,

reminding us,

we are not all knowing,

we do not have all the answers,

much like the future,

the past still a mystery.

colors seemingly picked at random,

complete,

a snapshot in time,

but of what ?

River

 

seen only by a few,

hidden by hills of sand,

a jewel,

sitting undiscovered,

in the middle of nowhere.

Fishing Pond

fishing pond,

place of childhood dreams,

northern pike, and large mouth bass,

days spent there,

some of the best of my childhood,

I remember the sun, the sweat,

and the joy of catching a large fish, 

breaking the silence of the long hot day.

 

Summer Heat

summer sun beats down on the prairies,

lakes shrink,

and rivers disappear,

the land yearns for earlier days,

when the region more desert,

than plains,

ignored or avoided by the white man,

for centuries,

as native sons roamed the land,

and gave thanks for what was.
