time for bed
time for bed,
though millions of thoughts remain in my head,
a journey through a restless mind,
the journey truly one of a kind.

a masterpiecee
paint splashed on the canvas,
the need to express overwhelms,
visions collide,
the mind steps away,
happy and satisfied.

a thought about our world today
the world crazy,
time never a friend,
get yourself right,
because any moment,
the whole thing could end.

mountain top
faces seen in the mountain top,
five or six,
soldiers, natives,
even presidents,
sleeping in the granite,
and limestone.

Souls
in this time of war,
souls continuously leaving their bodies behind,
some on to the afterlife,
while others sit awaiting judgement,
as to where they are to go.

Dreams
dreams,
faces and fantasies from the past,
work to confuse me,
unsure of the people and women who were part of my life,
or maybe just entities within my head.

stairs in the park
stairs in the park,
covered by trees,
hidden,
a magical place found,
where dreams created,
and special thoughts seem real,
only moments away from traffic,
and the middle of the city.

The Past
giant animals of the past,
wander endlessly,
in search of water,
they shall never drink,
for they are only spirits,
unable to consume,
the water they seek.

the past
the past on the paper,
bones and fossilized thoughts,
chaos,
the life lived,
misunderstood by the survivors.

The Soddy
The Soddy
Douglas Polk
the soddy on the calving place,
a favorite place to be,
walls made of sod,
three foot deep,
warm and cozy,
when back from checking for calves,
on a long winter night,
no phone or television,
the internet did not exist,
a propane stove in the center of the room,
the only heat we would need,
coffee and cards,
and mice in the walls,
the place now only in my dreams,
a happy memory,
as the card game on the computer stares back at me,
a clock on the screen telling me,
thirty five minutes until the next ride needs to be made.

Horseback
Horseback
Doug Polk
The rhythm of the horses hooves,
calms the soul,
helps collect the thoughts,
seeing the cattle grazing up ahead,
the sun shines down warming neck and hands,
as the cattle gently gathered and started on their way,
on this glorious God given day,
horseback in the sand hills,
Heaven on earth.
