River

 

towers

tower tall,

crumble and fall,

along with the thoughts in my mind.

 

old times

 

old times,

with lace and doilies,

and dolls in rocking chairs,

colors together,

remind me of my grandmother,

and days filled with love.

Stock Chute

Stock chute by the old caking shed,

cattle shipped to town in the chutes,

while in the shed, 

cake and salt piled to the ceiling,

memories of days gone by,

playing in the chute,

or sneaking into the shed,

to lick the salt block,

and gnaw on pieces of cake,

made of alfalfa,

laying on the floor.

 

Bridge

bridge over calm waters,

walked across a number of times,

the water akin to time,

keeps on flowing by.

 

A Friend

 

never sure if friend of foe,

missed just the same.
